It must truly be BBBBAGITSNB month - Moonrat over at editorialass.blogspot.com encouraged readers to give a white friend a book by a black author(and referenced Carleen's site) - so I gave your books a plug.
What's your take on separate sections for black authors? Or would you rather have books just classed by genre?
I've always opposed separate sections for black authors. A salesperson once told me that it's to make it easier for black readers to find black authors. How insulting. We've learned that separate often means inequal. Whether it's done to ethnic minorities, gays, or any other marginalized group, this form of literary apartheid costs writers exposure to new readers and the greater buying public. It's unfair to the writer and unfair to readers. Classify by genre and leave it at that.
