An Anniversary
Yesterday, I read an email from a friend, another writer, discussing his efforts to find an agent. In passing, he also mentioned that he was off to Bouchercon. I sort of let the remark slip past. But it was must have nestled in my subconscious. This morning, within seconds of waking up, my thoughts returned to that remark. Was it really a year ago that I attended Bouchercon in Toronto? A year has passed already? I enjoyed the event, but felt out of sorts. This was an event for writers. Not just published writers, but writers being published. I told myself I wouldn't return until I had another book on the shelves. I didn't expect it to happen within a year, but I didn't expect the year to go by so swiftly either. If that makes sense.
It also hit me that NaNoWriMo is almost upon us. November isn't as far away as it appears to be. Last year, I wasn't able to participate, but this year I will. Participating in Nanowrimo is assure me of producing a finished manuscript every year. Whether I publish it or not seems secondary. I just want to get back into the swing of things. I want to rediscover the joy of writing.
