In surfing the Internet the other day, I happened upon this photo. Stunned, I promptly forgot about what I'd been looking up and followed the link attached to the picture. One site led to another. Eventually, I landed on the
Secure Our Children site, and there I read about "Noma." How was it that I'd never heard of this evil, voracious disease before? Noma is horribly disfiguring and fatal. It accompanies malnutrition and literally eats away a child's mouth, cheeks, nose and so on, quickly consuming the face. Most of its victims are very young and many don't survive. Learn more about this
easily preventable disease by visiting the site of
the Noma Hospital in Sokoto or the web presence of the
Secure Our Children Foundation. The
Dutch Noma Foundation is also worth a visit, too.
